This year’s annual Italian Auto Icons held on Sunday 4/3/2018 was considered the most successful since 2014 as there was a higher percentage of rare/unique cars as part of a wider range of interesting and diverse models of the 6 main Italian car brands, compared to previous years.
Crowd numbers, helped by a pleasant Autumn Melbourne day, matched last years record crowd where it was noticed more families were present this year, as well as more female and male freelance photographers, compared to last years event.
The stand out cars included, for the first time:
- two 1965 rare Ferrari’s, one of which a 1965 Coupe, one of only 13 produced worldwide by Ferrari.
- Another 1st timer, a 1972 original restored Fiat Dino, which won a major 2017 MotorClassica prize for its class.
- Tom Sellick’s aka MAGNUM PI , original 1985 308 Ferrari Coupe convertible used in his popular 1980s TV series
- A rare and quality 1956 Alfa Romeo Spyder that was displayed next to Magnums Ferrari, and both attracted many visitors and admirers.
A popular modern car for family members was the new, but yet to be released in Australian, the new Alfa Romeo SUV which was supplied by IAI’s major sponsor Zagames.
