Sunday 14th December 2014 was a significant date for the Maserati family descendants from Bologna ,Italy and Maserati owners worldwide. This date was 100 years to the day that the Maserati family started producing the high performance and Maserati racing cars at Bologna.
To celebrate this occasion, the Melbourne based Maserati Owners Club held a private luncheon at Masani’s restaurant in Carlton where members ,their wives and partners attended as well as their classic Maserati’s (and some new
ones) which parked out front of Masani’s.
Special guests were Reg Hunt and his wife who joined the other 50 guests in celebrating Maserati’s 100 years history. Reg was a renowned Maserati racing driver in Australia back in the mid 1950s, but retired in his mid-thirties to establish Australia’s most successful GMH Dealership, Reg Hunt Motors.
He is a long serving Patron of the Australian Maserati Club and below you can see Reg standing in front of a photo taken of him in 1956 at the Albert Park car racing circuit in his MASERATI 250F.
Reg was pleased to sign lots of the Maserati “Tridente Carburetor Tributo” Centenary brochures given to guests. (see signed brochure below)
The Italian Auto Icons film crew was fortunate to
be invited to this special Maserati Function where several filmed interviews were
taken on the day. The two interviews below include one with Reg Hunt and the other with David Zeunert. David together with John Gove, are working closely with Italian Auto Icons to ensure a quality range of classic and iconic Maserati’s will attend the Icons display on Sunday 1/3/15 in Lygon Street Carlton.
Several of these Maserati’s shown on the videos
will be attending the ICONS event.
